A Pressing Need for Environmental Action

We recognize the severity of the environmental crisis facing our planet and the pressing need for action. As responsible members of the global community, we have set ambitious climate targets and are actively seeking solutions to reduce our footprint both in our operations and across our value chain.

Carbon-Neutral for Scope 1 and 2 Emissions by 2025

Puratos set an ambitious goal to reach Carbon Neutrality for our global operations (Scope 1 and 2 emissions) by 2025. We are proud to share that we reached this major milestone on schedule, following the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.

This achievement was driven by our transition to 100% renewable electricity (achieved and maintained since 2023) and the expansion of our onsite energy production. We continue to lower our energy consumption through high-efficiency technologies like e-boilers and energy recovery systems. At each production site, areas of improvement are identified, and action plans are implemented to reduce our energy consumption and optimize processes.

Building on this success, we formally joined the Science-Based Targets initiatives (SBTi), reaffirming our commitment to climate actions. Following the submission of our emission reduction targets across our value chain, including efforts to reduce emissions generated outside of our operations, we look forward to sharing the outcome of the validation process later this year.

Water Balanced by 2030

Puratos plans to achieve water balance by 2030 by guaranteeing the responsible planning and management of our shared freshwater resources.

This entails minimizing the use of freshwater, enhancing the quality of our water discharged and mitigating water risks in our direct operations and in our value chain.

We are driving continuous improvement in water efficiency across our global operations, reducing water use per ton produced since 2016.

In 2025, Puratos was once again acknowledged by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), outperforming the industry average by achieving a B grade for proactive efforts in both climate change and water management. Puratos also expanded transparency by disclosing forest management efforts, securing a B- grade to benchmark our work in combating deforestation.

Waste Management

Zero Waste to Landfill in Our Operations by 2030

We aim to eliminate waste in our operations and promote a circular economy, to reach zero waste to landfill in our operations by 2030.

Our approach for waste management and reduction prioritizes prevention, with an emphasis on refusing and reducing waste. We advocate for reuse whenever feasible before considering recycling options. Moreover, we emphasize recycling over energy recovery options.

Prevent and Reduce Food Waste

We are deeply committed to reducing food waste internally, within the production and warehousing processes of our products, and externally, helping our customers and consumers in their efforts to reduce waste. To address this issue, we have a range of solutions that help our customers extend the shelf life and freshness of their products.
