Member of the new partnership of EIT Food

Puratos Group will be collaborating to develop and implement the food strategic innovation agenda in Europe for the next seven to fourteen years.

As one of the core members of the new partnership of EIT Food, Puratos Group will be collaborating to develop and implement the food strategic innovation agenda in Europe for the next seven to fourteen years.

Puratos Group is delighted to be part of the winning consortium appointed by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) after a very competitive bidding on the Food4Future call. The resulting Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) is referred to as EIT Food. The EIT will contribute strongly to the objectives set out in Horizon 2020, in particular by addressing societal challenges in a complementary way to other initiatives.

EIT Food, supported by the EIT a body of the European Union, is a new pan-European partnership that brings together 50 leading businesses, universities and research organisations acting as core partners covering the entire food value chain and highly relevant adjacent sectors. EIT Food also works with a large group of network partners to guarantee a broad outreach. Its mission is to boost innovation, growth and job creation and put Europe at the centre of a global revolution in food.

The consortium will work with EIT Food to create a more trusted food innovation ecosystem that supports consumers in their right to a healthy and more environmentally sustainable diet. The ultimate aim is for 60% of European consumers to achieve intake levels of positive nutrition including fruits and vegetables, whole grains and proteins by 2030 as well as reduce the levels of salt, sugar and saturated fat as recommended by the WHO (World Health Organization) and European authorities.

Filip Arnaut, R&D Director at Puratos Group, commented on the win by saying:

“As one of the core partners, we look forward to working closely with the other leading experts in food, including several Top European universities. This will allow us to discuss and steer the research agenda in a direction that will match our innovation objectives, and vice versa.”
