Puratos’ commitment to nutrition
Delivering excellent nutritional value is one of our top priorities. That’s why we continually monitor the nutritional makeup of every Puratos product through the careful analysis of our ingredients. Our Research & Development team works within strict guidelines to develop products with the best possible nutritional value. This includes the energy content (kcal) and the level of carbohydrates, including fibres, fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals that may be present.
The mission of our researchers is to formulate products with the best nutritional value, in function of our customers’ finished products, without compromising on taste. Where we can, we increase fibres and reduce sugar, salt and fat. Our team of nutritionists specialise in opening new horizons to our researchers and product formulators. In addition, our technical demonstrators help our customers create recipes where the nutritional value is optimised.
For example, between 2006 and 2010, we have worked to increase the amount of cereal derivatives (+35%) and wholemeal flours (+32%) in our products. At the same time, we managed to decrease the amounts of salt (-50%) and sugar (-8%). Part of our commitment to advancements in nutrition also includes offering products free from hydrogenated fats.
In addition to improving the nutritional profile of our products & solutions, we help our customers optimise the nutritional profile of finished goods. From nutritional simulations, mappings to benchmarks, a series of tools help us advise our customer on how to reposition their product against competition. Our Nutricenter combines all the competences necessary to help you have the ideal recipe.
